Hi guys, I’m finally back from my blogging hiatus and as some of you may have noticed
(you better, I faffed around long enough), the blog has a slightly new look! In addition to new aesthetics, I’ve also decided to open the blog up to poetry, where I will feature the work of poets of colour. I think years of school analysing poems by dead white men to death took the beauty and fun out of poetry for me, but I’ve recently discovered some real gems that I’d love to share with you. I can’t pretend to be a poetry expert, but I do feel poets (particularly of colour) don’t always get the coverage they deserve so I’m happy to open it up to guest posts if any of you have read some poetry you’d like to share.
In other exciting news, I’ve joined the Tilted Axis Press team as the new publicity and marketing intern, (you can check out my blog post for them here and show some love if you’d like! ;)) I’m excited to play a small role in further promoting authors of colour which is thankfully something they’re really committed to- in fact all of their authors are PoC! But don’t worry I will be posting disclaimers if I feature any of their books on the blog as posting upfront and impartial reviews is of utmost importance to me! 🙂 I’ve also been busy curating Media Diversified’s online library which again was a real treat and is another great platform for getting PoC writers the coverage they deserve.
Of course all of this means that my reading has been put on the back burner, but I’m looking forward to getting back in to it and catching up with some of your reviews.
So what have you guys been up to? I’ll be checking out your blogs shortly and posting reviews of Where the River Parts and Jasmine Falling soon so watch this space!
